Man is not a rational animal but a rationalizing one; not logic but emotion controls him, and he employs logic to support and strengthen his belief whatever that may be. Stories control his emotions; some shrewd individuals calling themselves prophets told unassuming masses stories; the more improbable those stories are, the more powerful they work. Lord Rama crossed the ocean and fought ten-headed Ravana with armies of monkies, Jonah lived in the belly of a fish and survived, Jesus walked on waters, Muhammad journeyed to heaven on an ass having wings, and those stories still rule humans.
Religions are said to spread love, but they preach hate against those who have different beliefs. Do they thrive on hate? You bet! Oh my dear God, what an animal have you created!
